Body interrupted

Body Interrupted. The piece is a trio based on the idea of how one physically relates to one’s own body and other bodies, what expectations, presumptions in a metaphysical sense, one has within those relationships and how there is a constant shift as human beings are alive, non-fixed creatures.

Body Interrupted was created as Annas final project during her BA at Laban.

One’s relationship to one’s own physicality will be modified if the surrounding environment is being modified, or if another physical being changes their own physical relationship. Likewise the shift and modification happening within one’s own physical relationship will modify the surrounding environment and other physical beings. Within this theory lies the theory of emphatic connections, which states that one cannot exist apart from the environment, as humans are environmental beings and thereby have bodily connections with their surroundings.

‘Cutting across the harmony of the known is a risky business, but new rhythms, new ways of knowing social space and private bodies, can emerge from it.’
— Petra Kuppers.

This is how I become mute.
